Frank Holton was a musician in John Philip Sousa’s band from 1893-1894. He began his career in music sales by selling slide oil called Electric Oil and eventually began selling used instruments. In 1898, he hired his first worker to start manufacturing trombones. In 1904. he incorporated as “Frank Holton & Co.” In 1962, Holton merged with Leblanc. In 2004, Holton sold to Conn-Selmer, Inc.
