Clarion Bugle

Bugles have been used as military and ceremonial instruments for thousands of years.

The design of this bugle is referred to as a clarion and was commonly used by militaries in both Europe and the United States throughout the 19th and early 20th-centuries.

This clarion is stamped “JACQUOT NANCY” on the bell. This refers to the Jacquot family of instrument makers in Nancy, France during the second half of the 19th-century.

Cords are commonly tied to bugles so that they can be worn by the players. This reproduction gold cord compliments the green uniforms worn by the 8th Green Machine Regiment Band, but could also be viewed to represent a cavalry unit during the American Civil War.
